Senior Engineering Manager BACK TO JOB LISTING
Position/Role Description:

Individuals interested in this position should have experience in software engineering leadership position, building high-performing, reliable systems in a complex, multi-tiered, and distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture) in a fast-paced environment.

  • Provide leadership and innovation in design and implementation of services to enable new products and services. Work closely with engineers and architect to develop the best technical design and approach.
  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments; Manage day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Contribute substantially to innovation and overcome technology limitations to deliver on customer experience.
  • Manage and develop the team, including hiring, retention, performance management, mentoring and capability/skill development.
  • Act as point of contact for communications dealing with project deliverables, setting the expectation, managing priorities, technologies, human factors and management issues.
  • Experience in roadmap planning and prioritization, distributing work among engineers, and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability.
Minimum Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields.
  • 12+ years of experience working in software engineering organizations.
  • 4+ years of Engineering leadership, including hiring and leading the team.
  • Experience building Large Scale Distributed Applications or Large-Scale Internet Systems (Cloud Computing)
  • Tech Expertise: Must have designed, implemented and delivered either enterprise class software that deals with client-server architecture. Must demonstrate strong fundamentals in problem solving and computer science.
  • A solid backing of technology and software development knowledge, that allows you to challenge the team, suggest technical alternatives and recognise excellence.
  • A passionate leader with track record of building and managing high performing engineering teams.
  • Good instincts matched with deep analytical thinking. Comfortable defining and tracking key business and usage success metrics, also recognises that metrics never tells the whole story.
  • A strong track record of project delivery for large, cross-functional, projects, bringing in and growing engineering talent.
  • Hands on experience in Java technology, React, Spring Hibernate, React, Web technology, REST, JSON, Docker and Databases.
  • Experience in Analytics and Business Intelligence is a plus.
  • Experience in Big Data, Hadoop, spark is a plus.
